A is for Amber who drowned in a pool
B is for Billy who was eaten by ghouls
C is for Curt with disease of the brain
D is for Daniel, derailed on a train
E is for Eric who was buried alive
F is for Frank who was stabbed in the eye
G is for Greg who died in the womb
H is for Heather who was sealed in a tomb

"Soul … what's Professor Stein doing?" Maka looked on to their teacher with absolute curiosity as he was actually singing to himself as he dissected another animal. The song was … rather disturbing.

Soul was more frightened than curious. If Stein was singing songs like these, then chances are he had started going mad again. But how? Things had been so calm lately. It just didn't seem to fit at all. "Ugh. Maybe he's singing about his victims."

Maka raised an eyebrow. "Alphabetically?"

Soul shrugged. "It could happen."

I is for Isaac who lost his front brakes
J is for Johnny who was bitten by snakes  
K is for Kimmy who was shot in the head
L is for Larry who bled and bled
M is for Marie who was burned to a crisp
N is for Nick who was pummeled by fists
O is for Olive who lived life too fast
P is for Pat who swallowed some glass

Maka shook her head, frustrated. "How could he make somebody swallow glass?"

Soul rolled his eyes. "All a person would have to do is get a good grip and shove it down their throat. Doc is a sick man."

Maka put her hands on her hips, glaring at Soul to a point where he started to feel it burn. "There is no way Stein would do something like that! Killing so many people when he's on the clock here … he's happy just dissecting things!"

"Unless he went mad! In which case, there is nothing he wouldn't do. Heck, I'm not all that convinced he'd have to go mad to do it! I'm telling you, Dr. Stein went whacko!"

"Should we tell Lord Death? I mean … he's just singing a song."

Q is for Quentin who took the wrong trail
R is for Rena who rotted in jail
S is for Steve who was shot with a bow
T is for Tori who froze in the snow
U is for Urich who was trampled by hooves
V is for Vanessa who fell off a roof
W is for Will who was hit by a car
X is for Xavier who sunk in the tar
Y is for Yessie who fell from a plane
Z is for Zack who simply went … insane!

They both blinked at that last verse. Maka answered her own question. "Yeah … we better tell him."

"Lord Death! Lord Death!" Maka rushed up to the supreme Shinigami.

He turned around to greet her. "Oh, yes yes, Maka. So nice to see you! Why the surprise visit?"

She rubbed the back of her neck, losing the nerve to speak on. "Soul and I are getting a little worried about Professor Stein. We think he might be going mad again."

He responded in complete surprise. "Wow! That's really something to go through again. Still, we can't go around making accusations, can we? What's your proof?"

"Well, Sir, we don't have any physical proof … but he's been acting really weird. Soul and I heard him singing a song about people dying. It was … not really pleasant. Maybe if we just keep an eye on him?"

Shinigami-sama chuckled. "Oh, that? You kiddies know that Halloween is coming up soon, and I throw a party for the school every year! That song Stein was singing is just practicing for the entertainment. There's nothing to worry about."

"Wait a minute!"  Soul, who was in Maka's hands as her scythe, transformed into his normal state. "You're having him perform a song about a person dying every … actually, for a school for reapers, that's a pretty good selection."
"Um, ok then." Maka added. "Sorry about the misunderstanding.

The teens turned around to leave and found Doctor Stein standing behind them, smirking and turning the bolt in his head.  They both screamed out, "HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN STANDING THERE?"
